Raiders earn 11-0 win over East Jackson

The season is still young, but the Raiders are showing they can compete with anyone after an 11-0 shutout win over East Jackson Monday night.

Habersham Central (5-3) has easily surpassed last season’s win total of three, but this season the boys are out for more than just improving. Eight games in, things are looking pretty good.

The Raiders opened the 2017 season with a similar 11-0 win over Cedar Shoals. After dropping a pair to White County by a 7-4 score and 7-1 loss to Stephens County, Habersham bounced back with three straight wins; 9-4 over East Jackson, 9-3 against Duluth and a 9-7 win over White County.

The three-game win streak was snapped by Stephens County, who once again bested Hab Central 8-6. The Raiders were quick to get back on the winning track with the shutout Monday night against East Jackson.

Impressively, the offense has scored six or more runs on six occasions. With 60 runs so far, that averages out to 7.5 runs per game.

Though only half of the season stats are up-to-date on Maxpreps.com, senior Seth Blackburn and junior Hunter Ingle are off to a great start, batting .462 and .385, respectively.

In Monday’s win, the offense put runs on the board in all but the third inning. Leading 2-0, the Raiders added three in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Two insurance runs in the seventh was icing on the cake.

Habersham returns to action Wednesday at Duluth, who they previously beat 9-3 earlier this month.
