The Gainesville Red Elephants kept their state title hopes alive Friday, defeating Houston County at home 49-35. BLITZ Sports’ Brian Carter captured the highlights at City Park (see video). With the win, the Red Elephants advance to their first semifinal since 2013. Gainesville will travel to Roswell for the semis.
Three other Northeast Georgia area teams also advance to the playoffs off quarterfinal wins Friday night – Prince Avenue Christian, Oconee County, and North Oconee.
Swainsboro ended Rabun County’s title quest Friday. The #3 Tigers defeated the #2 Wildcats 35-10. It was the first loss for the Wildcats this year.
