Investigators in Rabun County say they have located the body of a 29-year-old veteran who was missing for nearly a week.
Late Wednesday evening, the sheriff’s office called off the search for Michael Henderson.
“We appreciate the community’s assistance in locating Mr. Henderson and ask for your continued support and prayers during the ongoing investigation,” says Rabun County Sheriff’s Investigator Kevin Angell.
Angell adds, “There is no concern for public safety regarding this incident.”
Henderson’s body was found in the woods off a trail at Kelly’s Creek Park in Dillard. Investigators were led there after someone from the public notified them they saw his vehicle.
The sheriff’s office issued a lookout after Henderson’s family reported him missing.
Henderson, who was from Dillard, was last seen at the Piggly Wiggly there on March 28.
