Rabies clinics in May

Pet owners are urged to take advantage of two upcoming low cost rabies clinics after several reports of rabies in the region.

The White County 4-H Club will hold the second of its two annual rabies clinics this coming Saturday, May 4, from 1-4 p.m. at the Cleveland Veterinary Hospital located at 1029 S Main Street.  At least 300 pets were vaccinated this past Saturday. Organizers expect more pets to be vaccinated this coming Saturday following a new report of rabies in the area.

Lyn Forrest of the White County Extension Office asks everyone who plans to attend the 4-H clinic to be patient. She says with the large turnout expected it will take time to get to everyone. She tells WRWH News, “You’re not just protecting the animals, you’re protecting the community as well.”

Cornerstone Animal Hospital will hold a rabies clinic in Alto on Saturday, May 18. The clinic will run from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the old Alto City Hall located at 162 South Grant Street.

Vaccinations at both clinics are just $12. Other discounted vaccines will also be available during the 4-H clinic at Cleveland Veterinary Hospital.
