The Habersham County Commission will hold a public hearing for the FY 2025 Habersham County budget on Monday, June 17. The public hearing will take place during its regular commission meeting.
The FY 2025 budget as currently written shows a 5.34% increase or $1,985,820 over the 2024 budget. The county will use $1.4 million in reserve funds to balance the budget for 2025.
According to the budget that is available online for review, it is only an estimate due to the Tax Digest not being available. It cautions that the numbers are subject to change once the Tax Digest is completed.
Based on the estimates, the budget is based on 3.5% real growth, not inflationary growth. Real growth is the new construction and/or new parcels that were created in the county during 2023.
The budget as currently written does not consider any new programs or positions that have been requested. However, those will be determined once the final tax digest is received.
The budget also does not indicate a millage rate increase or rollback for this year. However, that will depend on the Tax Digest once completed and if any programs or positions are added after its received.
A second budget public hearing is also scheduled for Monday, June 24 in a Special Called Meeting of the Commission. After the public hearing has concluded during that meeting, the Commission will consider approving the FY 2025 budget.
The Habersham County regular Commission meeting will be held Monday, June 17, at 6:00 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room in the Habersham County Courthouse located at 295 Llewellyn Street in Clarkesville.
