Presidential primary voting scheduled to resume April 27

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Tuesday outlined how the presidential preference primary will be run once the temporary suspension is lifted. Raffensperger suspended in-person voting on Monday, March 15 because of the escalating threat and spread of the COVID-19 virus.

As it now stands, in-person is scheduled to resume on April 27. Absentee by mail ballots will begin to go out on March 31.

Those voting in the Democratic presidential primary will get a ballot with twelve names on it but now, only two of the candidates on that ballot are still running. Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday (March 19) dropped out of the race and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden. He and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are the last two remaining Democratic presidential candidates.

President Donald Trump is the only candidate the Georgia GOP submitted to be on the ballot.

Ballots that have already been cast in the presidential primary will be counted. Those who have not yet voted may do so during the General Primary on May 19.
