A blown transformer has knocked out power at Big A Elementary School in Toccoa, according to school officials.

No injuries are reported, and teachers and staff members have implemented “engaging and fun alternate activities,” according to the Stephens County School System.

Parents may pick up their children – which will be considered an excused absence. Students who remain at school will stay until the end of the regular school day.

Because of the outage, there is currently no internet or phone service at the school. The power may remain out for the majority of the day. Plans are in place to provide lunch to all students.
