The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is searching for information regarding the September 5 Athens shooting that left seven injured.
Police say the shooting occurred during a large fight that took place in the East Clayton Street and North Jackson Street area. During this fight, a shooter began to fire into the fighting crowd, leaving seven injured. ACCPD identified Pharoah Devonell Williams, 21, as the alleged shooter. He turned himself into the Wilkes County jail on Monday and was taken into custody.
According to officials, Williams had numerous arrest warrants out on him in relation to the shooting.
Now, ACCPD is searching for photos or videos from bystanders that may have captured any details. The department says those photos, videos and/or audio recordings taken from between midnight and 2 a.m. on the fifth could help them fill in the blanks.
“We are trying to determine the circumstances that led up to the fight,” ACCPD Lieutenant Shaun Barnett tells Now Habersham. “We are hoping that if someone has photos/videos, we’ll be able to identify any other involved parties that were in the area, if any, and if there was an incident that preceded the fight that may have been captured.”
Photos and videos should be shared by contacting Detective Menzel at (706) 612-6388 or via email at [email protected]
