Local police are working with state and federal agents to find who stole an untold number of firearms from a Cleveland gun and sporting goods store. The theft occurred early Friday, June 24, at Straight Shooters on South Main Street.

Officers responded to an alarm call just before 5 a.m., says Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker. Evidence points to a ‘smash and grab’ robbery by three suspects.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered extensive damage to the business establishment where apparent entry was made and firearms were stolen,” he says.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist the Cleveland Police Department with its investigation. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) also responded to the scene.

Investigators are working to identify the suspects. Shoemaker says they also have a partial description of a “vehicle of interest” described only as a silver or metallic sedan, with no known make or model at this time.
