If you plan on signing up for a new Georgia digital license or ID, the Department of Driver Services reminds you to keep your clothes on.

On its Facebook page this week, Georgia DDS posted a notice reminding people to stay away from bare selfies.

“Attention, lovely people of the digital era! Please take pictures with your clothes on when submitting them for your Digital Driver’s License and IDs,” wrote the department.

“Cheers to technology and keeping things classy!” they added.

The post relates to a relatively new program in Georgia that allows residents to add a digital driver’s license or ID to their Apple Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch. While it is not a replacement for your physical copy, the digital ID can “speed up the process at select TSA checkpoints,” according to the department’s website.

Hundreds of people commented on the post, asking if it was a joke or if it needed to be said.

In an apparent nod to their humorous comments, DDS made another post stating, “Our social media managers’ phone practically had a meltdown, buzzing with notifications and messages from friends and strangers alike.”

“It was like having a backstage pass to the world’s biggest comedy show!”

The instructions for shooting digital ID photos are posted on the DDS Facebook page. The instructions state, “Take off your glasses. Take off your hat.” Perhaps they’ll soon add a reminder, “Put on your clothes.”
