“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9
Betsy Frost was my geometry teacher. She loved shapes, protractors, isosceles triangles, right angles, and lines. Not me. Point A to Point B was anything but straight for me in Mrs. Frost’s geometry class. I suffered daily trying to remember formulas and find xy coordinates.
Personally, in my own life, I’d love a few straight paths – the plan to get from Point A to Point B looks pretty good as long as it is straight – the problem is, I think God draws crooked lines, bypasses, detours, and intersecting lines. When He tells us His ways are not our ways – He means it!
How many times have your plans been redirected? Sidelined? Derailed? Or just plain Shot down!
The beauty of life is if it were just us we probably could get from Point A to Point B easily. A 2-dimensional lifestyle would look rather nice next to all the chaos of real life – disappointment, financial issues, loss of job, change of career, broken relationships, heartache, grief, illness, failure. They all come together cumulatively to make our life anything but 2 dimensional. I’ve learned the process by which God gets us from Point A to Point B at times can be quite twisted.
The key is knowing He is faithful and good and trustworthy. His formula for our life plan may be different from our own; but, He has the right direction and the answer for the best outcome.
You may be struggling with direction, wondering where you are heading in life. Maybe plans aren’t working out the way you would have liked. Maybe you are uncertain about decisions. As humans we make plans but we have to trust in God for the direction of those plans. He establishes our steps, but we have to walk them.
