Planned PEThood to provide free veterinary care next weekend

Planned PEThood will return to Habersham County next weekend to provide needed veterinary services to people in the county who otherwise could not afford them. This will be their third time visiting the county.

This invite-only event will provide free rabies vaccines, flea treatment, core vaccines, microchipping and vouchers for spaying and neutering. Those with financial hardship in need of care will receive a ticket from the Habersham County Animal Shelter for the event.

“If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to provide basic veterinary care to your pet, please reach out to us at the shelter and we can get you set up with a ticket to the event.”

If you receive a ticket to receive free veterinary care, Nix says that you should be in line at the fairgrounds by noon to receive that treatment.

“Please keep in mind that this is limited, and we would appreciate that these spots are truly reserved for people and pets in need.”

The groups are aiming to provide care for 200-300 animals on February 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. You can reach the shelter at (706) 839-0195.
