Piedmont’s Luke Martin Earns USA South Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

The USA South Athletic Conference has released the fourth Player of the Week listing for the fall with freshman LUKE MARTIN making the cut for the first time in his career. Martin earned USA South men’s soccer rookie of the week edging out five other nominees across the conference.


Martin scored a pair of goals last week as the Lions won 6-2 against Huntingdon College on the road. The freshman from Atlanta, Georgia now has three goals this season, tied for second best on the team. Martin is one of two freshmen to start each of the eight contests so far this season for Head Coach Jimmy Stephens.

The USA South Athletic Conference announces its weekly honor roll each Monday and at least half of the teams in a sport must have competed within the previous week for honors to be awarded.

Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week
LUKE MARTIN, Piedmont – The freshman forward from Atlanta, Georgia scored two goals with one assist in a 6-2 victory over USA South foe Huntingdon in the team’s only contest last week. Martin was involved in the Lions’ first three goals of the game, scoring the first and third which was the eventual game-winner.
