Piedmont women golfers named All-American scholars for 2016-17

Piedmont’s CHARLI JUSTICE and ASHTON MAMULA have been named All-American Scholars for the 2016-17 season announced this week by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Justice and Mamula both competed in 20 rounds this season for the Lady Lions with Justice posting a pair of top five finishes.

The Lady Lions posted their best round of the season at the Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational carding a 315 in the first round marking the best single round score since October of 2012. Piedmont finished the season with one of its best performances coming in second at the Hollins Spring Invitational, just four strokes back of champion Bridgewater.

Justice finished her sophomore season leading the team at the Hollins Spring Invitational with an 82 carding her low round of 76 in individual play at Hollins. Mamula ended her career with the Lady Lions carding a low round of 78 at the Joe Duncan Rhodes Invitational helping Piedmont to its lowest round in five years.

A total of 952 players earned the honor this season from the WGCA with players needing a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 to earn the honor.
