As of this week, Piedmont College has become Piedmont University, setting a week of campus-wide spirit in motion and concluding the week with an unveiling for the student body at Piedmont University’s “U Day.”
The university showed off new logos, an updated website, new signs and spirit wear for students that attended this afternoon’s events. The university also unveiled their “Piedmont Promise,” their dedication to student success.
The university has been part of Demorest’s history for 124 years, beginning as J.S. Green Collegiate Institute in 1897 and becoming Piedmont College in 1902. Their name change comes as the school expands, expecting to bring the university’s residential population up to more than 1,000 students after the completion of Mystic Hall.
“This is a seminal moment in our 124-year history,” said Piedmont University President James F. Mellichamp in a press release. “It is a reflection of our collective work, the direction we are going, and an institution-wide commitment to strategic planning and growth.”
