Piedmont Track & Field sets 13 school records

The Piedmont College track and field teams returned to Birmingham for the second meet of the season with 13 record-setting performances on Sunday.

Six athletes were part of two schools records each including both individual competitions and relay events.

JULIA GRAHAM set the Piedmont 400m record in her second event of the day, winning her section, running a 1:02.46. Graham also split a 1:01 as the anchor leg in the school record women’s 4x400m relay. Both ESTEBAN SALAZAR and NICK LEMONS competed in the 200m dash with Lemons edging out Salazar by three-tenths of a second with Lemons’ 23.34 setting the school record.

Analee Bradach put her name in the track and field record book in her first competition running a 2:33.84 in the 800m while ALVIN JACOBS won his section of the men’s 800m running a 2:00.96 and claimed the Piedmont men’s indoor 800m record. Jacobs came in 15th out of 65 and was the third fastest Division III athlete behind a pair of athletes from Emory University.

KYLE RAY broke his own school record in the men’s pole vault clearing 4.31m (14′ 01.75″) with his mark coming in second best in the competition. Ray finished fourth overall but was third among collegiate competitors.

BRYCE GRIGGS, NATHAN GALLOWAY, Dewayne Cagle and CONLEY WILHELM made their Piedmont track and field debut running the men’s 3,000m with Griggs setting the school record running a 9:22.02.

JULIA GRAHAM, ANALEE BRADACH, BROOKE HARDEGREE, ALEXANDRA LEONARDISALVIN JACOBS and NICK LEMONS all were part of two school records.

Inside the Results
–A total of 13 school records fell Sunday in the men’s 5000m, men’s 3000m, women’s 60m, women’s 400m, men’s 1-mile, men’s 200m, men’s 800m, women’s 800m, women’s long jump, women’s triple jump, men’s pole vault, women’s 4x400m and men’s 4x400m.

–Piedmont had nine athletes make their debut in indoor track and field Sunday.
