Piedmont College has been ranked the fifth best institution of higher learning in Georgia by Wallet Hub. The popular personal finance website compared nearly 1,000 institutions in a study that gave weighted consideration to costs, financing, and career outcomes.
The college ranked behind Georgia Tech (1), Emory University (2), the University of Georgia (3), Mercer University (4), and ahead of Berry College (6), Spelman College (7), and Georgia College and State University (8).
Nationally, Wallet Hub ranked Piedmont 217 and assigned the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as the top university. The complete rankings are posted on the Wallet Hub website.
“While many college rankings emphasize prestige and national name recognition, the Wallet Hub study gives more weight to what really matters to most families: cost and career outcomes,” said Cynthia Peterson, Piedmont’s Dean of Admissions and Undergraduate Enrollment. “Piedmont provides a small-college experience that is both affordable and helps to launch successful careers.”
Wallet Hub is not the only ranking organization to give high praise to the value of a Piedmont education. Last month, U.S. News & World Report ranked Piedmont the second-highest Georgia institution in the South Regional “Best Value” category. The magazine selects Best Value institutions based on their overall academic quality and the net cost of attending.
In recent years, Piedmont has made major investments in facilities and academic programs while maintaining small classes and keeping college costs affordable. Piedmont’s total enrollment is 2,491, up from 2,361 last year and 2,260 in 2016.
