Demorest, GA – The Piedmont College men’s soccer team ran up against a tough squad Tuesday night from Oglethorpe University who earned a 3-0 shutout over the hosting Lions in Demorest at the Walker Athletic Complex. It was an own goal in the 42nd minute that sealed the Lions’ fate before OU piled on two more in the contest for the decision away from home in a non-conference battle.
Piedmont’s KENNETH HEARN allowed three scores and was forced to make five saves as the Stormy Petrels controlled the match from the midway point of the first half after the two teams settled in.
The Lions were outshot 18-5 in the contest with no Lion tallying more than one shot each. OU also held the edge in corners with a 4-1 mark.
