Piedmont Men’s Basketball Places Four on NABC Honors Court

The Piedmont College Men’s Basketball has placed four student-athletes on the 2015-16 NABC Honors Court announced today by the National Basketball Coaches Association.

Juniors PEYTON LUKEN, OSMOND ROBINSON II, TRAE GAINES and CHASE ENGLAND were recognized for their academic excellence during the past season.

The organization’s honors court recognizes junior and senior student athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the end of the 2015-16 academic year.  Piedmont’s Jessie Jenkins earned the honor a season ago following his senior campaign with the Lions.

CHASE ENGLAND led the team averaging 13.6 points per game while adding nearly six rebounds each contest. The junior from Oakwood, Georgia started in all 26 games of the season as one of four players to start each contest during the 2015-16 season under Head Coach Greg Neeley.

TRAE GAINES was just behind England in average points per game with 12.9 points per contest while having a team-high 24 blocks during the season. Gaines also started each contest of the year and earned the USA South February play of the month for his game-tying three-pointer v. Greensboro in the regular season.

PEYTON LUKEN averaged 10.3 points per game while starting each contest and led the team with a total of 60 3-pointers, 22 more than the next Lion. Luken had his best performance behind the arc against LaGrange going 6-for-10 with a season-high 23 points.

OSMOND ROBINSON II played in 10 contests in his debut season with the Lions with a total of 11 points during the 2015-16 season. Robinson II scored a season-high four points against Emory University and totaled 11 minutes on the court against Berry College.
