Piedmont College will present its 28th Annual Service of Lessons and Carols at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 2–3, in the Chapel on the Demorest campus. The performances are free and everyone is invited.
The musical celebration of Christmas will feature the 97-voice Piedmont Chorale, directed by Dr. Lauren Ringwall and assistant conductor Cole Martin; and the Piedmont Brass and Piedmont Woodwinds. Guest singers include the Lanier High School Singers, directed by Taylor Greer; and the North Gwinnett High School Chorale, directed by Brianna Greer. The choirs will be accompanied by organist Louise Bass and pianist Kay Harris.
The program will include works by Michael John Trotta, Dan Forrest, Peter Latona, Neil Harmon, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Paul Manz, Stephen Caracciolo, Alex Thomlinson, and Craig Courtney, as well as traditional Christmas carols with audience participation.
The liturgist for the program will be the Rev. Timothy Garvin-Leighton, Campus Minister. Lectors will include Piedmont faculty and staff members Tim Lytle, Professor of Philosophy and Religion; Susan Smith-Patrick, Professor of Education; Linda Wofford, Executive Assistant for Academic Affairs; Don Gnecco, Dean of the School of Education; Jennifer Arbitter, Associate Professor of Mass Communications; Jeremy Fouts, Assistant Professor of Athletic Training; Brenda Boonstra, Director of Undergraduate Admissions; Bob Glass, Dean of Libraries and College Librarian; and Barbara Brown Taylor, Butman Professor of Religion.
