Piedmont College will add 273 new members to its alumni rolls with a Commencement ceremony 10 a.m., Saturday, July 21, in the Johnny Mize Athletic Center at the campus in Demorest.
President James F. Mellichamp and Board of Trustees Chairman Thomas A. “Gus” Arrendale III will present diplomas to students earning Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Business Administration, Certification of Cardiovascular Technology, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Teaching, Education Specialist, and Doctor of Education degrees.
The Commencement speaker will be The Honorable William S. Duffey, Jr., who retired on July 1 and was one of 14 federal judges on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, which covers 46 counties. He was nominated to the court by former President George W. Bush in 2003. Prior to his appointment, Judge Duffey was U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia.
