Piedmont College sets conference for teachers, teaching students

Area educators and education students are invited to attend a one-day conference on Saturday, March 24th in the Swanson Center at Piedmont College in Demorest that will focus on timely issues and trends in education.

The Piedmont Educator Renewal Conference (PERC) is titled “Educating for a Changing World,” and will allow educators to share information on innovative as well as effective practices and recent research in education, said Dr. Don Gnecco, Dean of the Piedmont College School of Education.

“This is our sixth annual PERC event, and it is an excellent way for teachers and student teachers to get together and explore the reasons they chose teaching as a profession,” Gnecco said.

Sessions will be conducted by Piedmont faculty, experienced educators, current students, and recent graduates from the college’s schools of Education and Arts & Sciences.

The cost of the conference is $20 for teachers and $10 for students. Education students can use attendance at the conference as field experience. Conference registration includes lunch and snacks. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and the day will conclude at approximately 3:30 p.m.
