Piedmont’s baseball and women’s lacrosse team piled up USA South All-Conference honors.
BASEBALL
The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2017 All-Conference listing in baseball with sophomore outfielder BRADY BALLSTADT earning first team all-conference honors.
Ballstadt posted a .343 batting average on the season starting all 34 contests for the Lions in center field. The sophomore slugger led the team in runs, hits, doubles and homeruns while having 78 total bases, 24 more than the next Piedmont athlete. Ballstadt had 140 at bats with just 18 strikeouts all season.
This marks the sophomore’s first time on the listing taking one of the three outfield slots on the first team listing.
Senior NATHAN HOLT was also honored as the team’s representative for the All-Sportsmanship Team.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE
The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2017 All-Conference listing in women’s lacrosse with seven Lady Lions earning all-conference honors.
Earning first team honors were KAYLA JONES on attack, CAITLIN O’BRIEN in the midfield and goalkeeper BLAKE FORREST. Jones started all 16 contests for PC this season with a team-high 68 points while leading the charge in assists with 39. O’Brien was second on the team in goals scored with 32 this season while having the second-most shots on goal as well.
Forrest worked in the cage for over 830 minutes starting all 16 contests posting 109 saves, second best in the league.
Taking second team honors were CASSIDY HEFLIN at attack, JULIANNA SURGENT & JENNA SMITH at midfield and FRANCESCA MALABAD on defense. Heflin also started each contest this year as the freshman was balanced on the attack with 19 goals and 22 assists in her debut season. Surgent led the team in ground balls in 2017 picking up 48 while it was Malabad who was third on that listing with 38 to her credit. JENNA SMITH scored 23 times in 2017 while also adding 18 assists and 34 draw controls.
Senior JULIANNA SURGENT was also honored as the team’s representative for the All-Sportsmanship Team.
