Pickup truck runs into local grocery store

There were some nervous moments for shoppers at Quality Foods in Cornelia on Tuesday after a pickup truck ran into the front of the building.

Cornelia police and firefighters responded to the call around 4 p.m. on October 6. The truck hit a soda machine and appeared to damage the brick wall and ceiling near the store’s right front entrance. Firefighters could be seen assisting an elderly man on the driver side of the Dodge Ram pickup.

No one was hurt, according the Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith, adding that the driver’s foot “slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator.” No charges were filed.
