Phyllis J. Ross of Clarkesville, GA, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2018 at home, surrounded by her devoted family. Phyllis, the oldest of two girls, was born on November 29, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Clarence and Katherine Knoth. She married Edward Ross on November 22, 1958 in Utica, MI.
She and Ed moved with their three children to several different states during the course of Ed’s career. Phyllis put family first, her passion was taking care of the kids and the household while Ed travelled for work. Phyllis made friends easily and was involved in many community organizations and was always active in her children’s school activities. She and Ed retired to Sarasota, FL, where they were very active members of the community. She loved her time there, especially when their children and grandchildren came to visit.
She and Ed later moved to Georgia to be closer to family. Phyllis loved life, she had an infectious personality and was always young at heart. She was happiest when she had a houseful of family and friends.
Phyllis leaves behind her daughters Cheryl Ross and Cathy (Bill) DeKoskie; her son, Ed Ross (Heidi); her grandchildren LT Hillary Charalambous (Alec), 1ST LT Eddie Ross (Courtney), David DeKoskie (Maria), Johnny DeKoskie, John Ross, and Joey DeKoskie; and her great-grandson Michael Charalambous.
The entire Ross family greatly appreciates the care and kindness of Phyllis’s in-home caretakers from Home Instead and the team from Homestead Hospice.
The family will receive friends at Hillside Memorial Chapel and Gardens on Friday, May 18 from 6-8 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church in Clarkesville on Saturday, May 19, at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
