Phillip Edward Shea, age 83 of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away April 9, 2019 following a period of declining health.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on May 3, 1935, Phil was the son of the late Donald B. and Ruth O. Shea. After graduating from high school Phil attended Miami Technical College. After college, Phil enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in which he honorably served for over 25 years. He earned many personal and unit commendations including Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, 7 Good Conduct Medals, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Mast Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and the Naval Commendation Medal.
Survivors include daughter Kim Correll, sons Phillip Shea, Jr., Dan Shea, David Shea, and Don Shea, brother Don B. Shea, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services were held and interment with full military honors will be held June 8, 2019 at the Veterans National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina.
