“Light smoke was exiting the home’s vents just as a small fire was located in the basement,” says Hall County Fire Public Information Officer Kimberlie Ledsinger. She says the fire traveled through the floor up to the main level. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames

The Gainesville Fire Department assisted in the initial attack on the fire. No one was injured. Firefighters safely removed three dogs from the residence

The official cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Second house fire breaks out

Two hours after the Crown Point Drive fire, Hall County firefighters were called to another house fire in Gainesville.

Around 10:35 a.m., on August 11, Hall County Fire Rescue responded to 4200 Twin Rivers Drive. A 911 caller reported heavy smoke and flames coming from a second-story garage apartment.

Crews extinguished the flames, but the fire destroyed the residence.

One firefighter was transported from the scene for minor dehydration due to the physical exertion of fighting this and the previous fire.

Ledsinger says the cause of the Twin Rivers fire is unknown. It, too, is being investigated by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
