Hi there, I’m Meeko. You may remember me from 2022 when I was at the Habersham County Animal Shelter with my brother as a teenager. Back then, we were really worried about being in the shelter and what would happen to us.
We were unruly teens and made the shelter people work hard to gain our trust! They spent weeks and weeks quietly sitting near our kennels, offering treats, and allowing us time to figure out life. Eventually, we caved. We learned that life wasn’t so bad after all! We got to go out and play, and out in the play yard, the people giggled at our antics and nicknamed us ‘Dem Boys.’
As we blossomed into upstanding doggie citizens from our previous life of being naughty boys, we started to find our personalities.
I found a local adopter, and my brother went to live in Vermont after being pulled by a rescue group.
I loved my new family so much. And they loved me. But things started to change as humans slowly transitioned back to working in the office and not from home. I had not met many others in my year at home, and I became a little possessive of my family. They weren’t sure how to remedy this but knew they didn’t want me living in a crate.
The shelter knew me, and having been through my struggles with me once already, they knew how to get me back on the right track. I was surrendered back to the shelter one year after I left.
So, I’ve had quite the adventure, finding myself back at the shelter for the second time. But hey, that means I’m a seasoned pro at making new friends in the playgroup! I’ve got a reputation for being the playgroup rockstar, and I get along famously with all my dog pals. 🐶 I can spend my days in the yard with doggie friends, and the humans don’t have to babysit me!
Sometimes, when I’m in my kennel, I scare people with my bark, but if you remind me, “You’re a baby, Meeko!” I remember I’m a sweet boy with the softest fur and sweetest eyes. That’s the secret to my good behavior, I swear! (Well, that and snacks)
You know what makes me super happy? Giving out kisses and getting belly rubs! Oh, and I’m a pro at photobombing, so get ready for some hilarious pics with me around. If I see a camera, I’m putting my nose to it. I’ve ruined soooo many pictures of other dogs with my nose! It’s become my mission in life.
And I lie like a frog. That always makes people smile. I’m GREAT on a leash and ride in the car well.
So, if you’re looking for a furry friend for yourself and your current furry friend- and you could use a few adorable photobombs in your life, come meet me!
