Savannah, GA – Freshman Cody Parker continues to make his mark on the Piedmont track and field record books as he recorded the second-best time in school history in the 1500m Wednesday at the Tiger Twilight Invitational. The Piedmont track and field team competed at the event hosted by Savannah State Wednesday in the third outdoor meet of the season.
Parker ran a 4:27.78 in the event, good for 5th place, as he was just 0.24 seconds off the 4th place finisher. He edged out some Division II competition from Fort Valley State as well as Paine College.
Parker also competed in the 3000m finishing second among all non-division I competition with a time of 9:44.60. This marks the first time he has competed in this event during the outdoor season.
During the indoor season, the freshman from nearby Clarkesville, Georgia set the school-record in the 3000m with a time of 9:43.36 at the Emory Crossplex Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama to open the season. He also ran the event at the Sewanee Indoor Invitational to conclude the indoor season, running a 9:44.70, keeping a steady pace as he has finished within 1.34 seconds each time he has competed in the event this season.
The Piedmont track and field team now has just two meets remaining in the outdoor season as they will head to Cullowhee, North Carolina next weekend, April 10-11, to compete in the Beynon Catamount Classic hosted by Western Carolina.
