Atlanta, GA – Cody Parker came close to breaking yet another school record in his young career, but came up just seconds shy of the Piedmont track and field record in the 5,000m Saturday. The Piedmont men’s track and field team competed in its second outdoor meet of the season over Friday and Saturday in Atlanta at the Emory Invitational.
Parker finished sixth out of 32 competitors in the 5000m on Saturday running a 16:52.30, just two seconds off the school record set back in 2013. This marks his personal best after having run a 17:02.70 last week at the ‘Southern Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
Jason Dang competed on Friday night in the 3000m steeplechase finishing 28th in the field of runners with a time of 12:14.25. This marked his first collegiate outdoor race and first time running the event.
The Lions will now travel to Savannah, Georgia for a midweek meet at the Tiger Twilight Classic on April 1. This will mark the halfway point in the outdoor season as the third of five meets for the Lions.
