The southbound on-ramp to GA 365 in Mt. Airy reopened late Monday evening after a tractor-trailer overturned earlier in the day.

The 2020 Freightliner Cascadia wrecked around 4:18 p.m. at the Tom Arrendale interchange about five miles east of Clarkesville.

The ramp re-opened at 9:20 p.m., according to Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore.

The Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary investigation revealed Tony L. Johnson of Statesboro was driving the truck southbound on GA 365 when he failed to maintain his lane. The vehicle struck the guardrail and overturned, partially blocking the on-ramp.

Habersham County Emergency Services transported the 32-year-old truck driver to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Demorest with minor injuries.

Crews were called to unload the cargo so that the truck could be lifted upright. According to Moore, the truck was carrying wire and possibly metal.

Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa investigated the crash and charged Johnson with driving too fast for conditions.
