Authorities have released the name of the man killed in an early Monday morning accident on GA 365. 40-year-old Andres Domingo-Andres died when his Ford Sport Trac pick-up ran into the rear of a flatbed truck just south of Trestle View Road.
Domingo-Andres’ hit the truck after a Ford Mustang driven by 21-year-old John Dean McKay of Demorest rear-ended him, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The impact caused Domingo-Andres’ vehicle to travel onto the right shoulder of the road where the tractor trailer was parked.
Witnesses told State Troopers the Mustang was traveling at a “high rate of speed while weaving in traffic.” After impact the Mustang came to rest in the left turn lane.
The truck driver, identified as 56-year-old Miguel H. Padron of Auburn, Georgia, was not injured.
Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley told WNEG Radio news, “The driver of the white pickup truck was pronounced dead on scene; and the driver of the mustang sustained critical fractures and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.”
The accident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team. Charges are pending.
