An evening wreck southeast of Gainesville Sunday left one person dead and injured four others.
On Sunday, July 23, at approximately 8:10 p.m., state troopers responded to a crash on State Route 332/Poplar Springs Road at Farmbrook Lane.
According to the Georgia State Patrol’s preliminary investigation, Quang Long Tran, 53, of Gainesville, was driving a Toyota Camry west on Farmbrook Lane. After stopping at the stop sign, Tran failed to yield, troopers say. While turning left onto SR 332, Tran pulled into the path of an oncoming Ford F-250 driven by Lizandra Franco Canales, 25, of Gainesville.
The pickup truck struck the driver’s side door of the Camry in the intersection.
Emergency personnel transported Tran and Canales to the hospital, where Tran later died.
EMS also transported three passengers in the Camry to the hospital for treatment. The left backseat passenger, Toan Thi Tran, 67, suffered serious injuries. The front seat passenger, Dong Cong Tran, 67, and a 12-year-old male child who was sitting in the middle of the back seat of the Camry were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
