The Georgia State Patrol has released the name of the driver killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday evening in Lula. 48-year-old Cindy Elaine Flanagan died when the Honda Accord she was driving crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming tractor-trailer head-on, troopers say.
The accident happened around 6 p.m. on October 7 on State Route 52/Lula Road near Magnolia Station Drive.
The Georgia State Patrol says the Lula woman was traveling eastbound on SR 52 negotiating a curve when she struck the westbound truck driven by 60-year-old Danny Garmon of Gainesville. After impact, the tractor-trailer left the roadway and became fully engulfed.
The truck, owned by Wayne Poultry of Pendergrass, Georgia, was hauling a tanker of chicken feed.
Flanagan died from her injuries, officials say. Garmon sustained minor injuries.
The wreck shut down SR 52 west of GA 365 for more than an hour as troopers investigated the crash and crews cleared the scene.
