One man was killed and another man injured in a head-on collision Saturday afternoon on GA 105 just south of River Bend Road in the Fairview Community.
Habersham County Deputy Coroner Kenneth Franklin identifies the victim who was killed as 48-year old Allen Charles Dixon, Jr. of Clarkesville.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Dixon was driving a white Oldsmobile 98 Regency south on GA 105 when he crossed the center line and struck a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling in the northbound lane, head-on. The truck was driven by 61-year old Scott Hancock of Sautee.
Franklin says Dixon died of blunt force trauma. The Georgia State Trooper investigating the accident, Casey Coffee, says Dixon was not wearing a seatbelt. Hancock was injured in the accident but officials say he was alert and talking.
Trooper Coffee says there was “no indication of impairment” with either driver.
The wreck happened at 3:15 p.m. The road was blocked for several hours as emergency crews cleared the scene.
