One person was found dead inside a burned-out camper east of Gainesville on Wednesday. Authorities are now investigating to determine how the person died.
Firefighters found the body after responding to a residential fire in the 2200 block of Barnes Drive. E-911 dispatched Hall County Fire Rescue to the scene around 2:38 p.m. on March 22. When crews arrived, they found a camper that was fully engulfed in flames parked about 50 feet behind the house.
After knocking down the flames, firefighters discovered the body in the center of the vehicle. The male victim’s identity and cause of death have not been determined. The cause of the fire is also unknown at this time.
Hall County sheriff’s investigators say the body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
The sheriff’s office and Hall County Fire Marshal are investigating.
