Autopsy confirms identity of East Hall fire victim

Following an autopsy, authorities have released the name of a woman who died in a mobile home fire on East Hall Road earlier this month.

Melissa Marie Maynor, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday, July 7. Her body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab for analysis. The autopsy determined her death was not suspicious, and Maynor died as a result of injuries sustained in the fire.

Maynor’s husband was home at the time of the fire; he was able to escape from the burning residence without injury.

At 5:48 the morning of the fire, Hall County Fire Rescue received a call about a residential fire in the 4700 block of East Hall Road in Gainesville. The caller advised dispatchers there was still a person inside the residence. When firefighters arrived, the single-wide mobile home was fully-involved with flames and black smoke showing from all sides of the residence.

“Firefighters made a defensive attack on the fire until enough of the flames could be extinguished before the initial search for the resident could be made,” says Hall County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Kimberlie Ledsinger.

After being cleared for entry, firefighters made their way in and found Maynor dead toward the back of the home.  The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
