One killed, three injured in Clayton accident

The Georgia State Patrol says charges are pending in connection with a fatal accident in Clayton.

25-year-old Dustin Duhamell of Franklin, North Carolina, was killed when the car he was a passenger in was struck by a pickup truck in front of Ingles on Highway 441/GA 15 early Friday.

Duhamell was in a Mercury Sable that was attempting to turn left into the store parking lot when the driver “failed to yield” and pulled into the path of an oncoming Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. The truck struck the car on the right passenger side “causing heavy/disabling damage to both vehicles,” says TFC John Crawford of Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Ashly Duhamell of Franklin, and the driver of the truck, 70-year-old George Ivester of Clarkesville, were both injured. A 3-year-old passenger in Duhamell’s car also was injured.
