
One person is dead and two others were hospitalized following a residential fire early Wednesday morning in the city of Pendergrass.
The North Jackson Fire Department responded to the blaze around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at a home on Park Street, with mutual aid provided by the West Jackson Fire Department and the Jackson County Correctional Fire Department.
When crews arrived, they encountered heavy flames and multiple victims. Firefighters from North and West Jackson conducted a search of the home and successfully rescued one individual from inside the burning structure.
Jackson County EMS transported two victims to the hospital with burn injuries. One fatality was confirmed at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
