The Georgia State Patrol has released details of a Labor Day accident in Cleveland that claimed the life of a 1-year old child.It happened just before noon Monday.
Authorities say 55-year old Lorri Vining of Dahlonega was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan north on GA 11 when she attempted to turn left onto Parkway Plaza.
51-year old Dawn Cain of Covington was driving a 2008 Jeep Wrangler south on the GA 11 Bypass (Appalachian Parkway).
According to Sgt. Austin Allen of the Gainesville State Patrol Post, “The Dodge Caravan attempted to turn left onto Parkway Plaza but failed to yield to the Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep Wrangler was unable to avoid a collision and struck the Dodge Caravan in the right side with the front of the Jeep Wrangler.”
Cain and Vining were both injured, as were two other passengers in Vining’s vehicle – 26-year old Justin Papa and 4-year old Annalise Papa of Dahlonega.
The parkway was shutdown for over an hour while officials worked the accident and cleared the scene.
