It’s that time again! The Fifth Annual One Book Habersham – Together We Read will kick-off at the Habersham County Board of Education Work Session on Monday, February 10 at 4:30 p.m. when this year’s book and author will be revealed.
“One Book Habersham is a wonderful way to bring the community together across multiple generations,” said Don Gnecco, a retired educator and OBH committee member. “Children can read the chosen book to their parents and grandparents, generating rich discussion.”
After the kick-off, 500 books will be distributed to schools, businesses, medical offices, libraries, churches, book clubs, and restaurants in the community for children and adults to read and share. Last year, it is estimated that more than 5,000 people read author Aaron Becker’s “A Stone for Sascha.”
Elementary and middle students in the Habersham County School System will have an opportunity to hear the author speak on April 14 and 15th. An evening event with the author will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Wilbanks Middle School.
The sponsoring partners for One Book Habersham are the Habersham County School System, Volunteers For Literacy, Piedmont College School of Education, and Habersham County Libraries.
