Community reading campaign returns for fourth consecutive year
It’s that time again!! The Fourth Annual One Book Habersham – Together We Read will kick-off at Cornelia Library on Monday, February 5 and at Clarkesville Library on Tuesday, February 6. Both events will begin at 5:30 pm when this year’s book and author will be revealed.
“People of all ages coming together to read the same book is a wonderful community builder,” says Don Gnecco, Dean of School of Education at Piedmont College and OBH committee member. “We have been fortunate to have outstanding authors over the past three years and this year will be no exception.”
After the kick-off, 500 books will be distributed to schools, businesses, medical offices, libraries, churches, book clubs and restaurants for the community – children and adults – to read and share. After reading the book, the OBH committee asks that the reader sign the book. Last year, it is estimated that approximately 5,000 people read author Toni Buzzeo’s “One Cool Friend.”
On April 10 – 12 the book’s author will visit students in every elementary and middle school in the Habersham County School System. An evening event with the author will be held at 7pm on April 12 at Piedmont College for the general public to attend.
The sponsoring partners for One Book Habersham are the Habersham County School System, Volunteers For Literacy, Piedmont College School of Education and Habersham County Libraries.
