An older woman who went missing from her Oakwood Village apartment earlier this week has been found dead, according to the Oakwood Police Department. A family member found the body of 71-year-old Betty Marie Ramey at the incident location Wednesday morning.

Ramey was reported missing from her home on Tuesday, August 27. Police issued an alert, saying she had a history of dementia and other health issues. Her sister told officers Ramey had stopped taking her medication and may have wandered off.

Neighboring police agencies helped Oakwood PD canvass the area off McClure Drive where Ramey went missing. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit assisted.

Police deployed a drone but could not locate her.

Investigators did not indicate how Ramey died. They say the investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released when more information becomes available.

“Please keep this family in your prayers,” Oakwood PD said in a news release.
