Police officers arrested an Oconee County man suspected of killing his mother and stepfather early Tuesday morning.
Athens-Clarke County Police took 20-year-old Peyton Moyer into custody.
Oconee County Sheriff’s investigators suspect Moyer of killing Ashley Schutza and Benjamin Smith. Officers found the couple dead in their home on Boldercrest Circle around 12:22 a.m. on December 28 while responding to a report of a shooting. They also located two juveniles inside the home who were unharmed.
Moyer lived in the house with his family. Investigators say he fled the scene in a car that belonged to one of the victims.
Athens police found Moyer and arrested him after a short pursuit. The case is still under investigation.
