Northeast Georgia drug trafficking investigation leads to arrests

Five people have been arrested and charged in connection with a months-long drug trafficking investigation in Banks and Habersham counties. Sheriff’s deputies and agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) made the arrests on August 25 during a search at 741 Grant Mill Road in Banks County and a traffic stop on GA-365 in Cornelia.

“The search warrant and traffic stop yielded approximately 100 grams of meth, approximately 15 grams of heroin, firearms, pills, and other illegal narcotics along with several thousand dollars,” says ARDEO Special Agent in Charge Trent Hillsman.

The approximate street value of the drugs is $8,000.

The following individuals were arrested during this investigation:

  • Christopher Kyle Lee, 21, of Alto – possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
  • Thomas “Tommy” Gannon, 31, of Alto – trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession with intent to distribute heroin, and possession of Oxycodone
  • Jennifer Sullivan, 34, of Baldwin – possession of methamphetamine
  • Marina Whitaker, 29, of Clarkesville – possession of methamphetamine with intent, and possession of heroin with intent
  • Erica Bergman, 31, of Dacula – possession of methamphetamine

Hillsman says the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
