Northeast Georgia drug operation dismantled following anonymous tip

Eight suspects arrested; five are from Habersham County

Authorities have charged eight people in connection with an alleged drug operation in Toccoa. The operation stretched across multiple Northeast Georgia counties. Investigators dismantled the operation on March 22 when they executed a search warrant at 3415 West Currahee Street.

Anonymous tip leads to arrests

Authorities found out about the operation through an anonymous tip. Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley says that tip led to a lengthy investigation into the “illegal sales of methamphetamine and other controlled substances coming from that residence.”

During their search, Shirley says investigators found a significant quantity of methamphetamine, as well as marijuana, digital scales, packaging material, and other drug paraphernalia. He says the resident, 53-year-old Tracie Flanagan of Toccoa, admitted selling methamphetamine.

Investigators used information obtained in their search to contact multiple drug traffickers who supplied the home. Investigators arranged for one of those individuals, later identified as 56-year-old Richard Melvin Henry of Clarkesville, to deliver approximately two ounces of methamphetamine to them at the residence. When Henry arrived, he was immediately arrested and the narcotics were collected as evidence, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Suspects are from Habersham, Stephens and White Counties

Sheriff Shirley says during the search and subsequent investigation, multiple individuals arrived at the residence to buy, sell, and trade various controlled substances to Flanagan and her associates.

Eight people were arrested and charged as follows:

  • Flanagan is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana less than an ounce. She’s out of jail on a $16,000  property bond.
