Students at North Habersham Middle School are into final rehearsals for their annual spring musical. The school is presenting Annie this weekend, under the direction of NHMS Choral Director Mrs. Paula Gibson.
The beloved story of the lucky orphan who gets to leave Miss Hannigan’s orphanage behind to spend Christmas with Sir Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks features energetic choreography in front of a stage backdrop created by past and current North Habersham students.
Annie features music and lyrics by legendary Broadway songwriters, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin including the beloved classics “Tomorrow” and “Hard Knock Life.” The book (the story), by Thomas Meehan, is based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip by Harold Gray which appeared in newspapers starting in 1924. The stage version originally opened on Broadway in 1977 and closed in 1983 after running for 2,377 performances. The show is now available to North Habersham thanks to an agreement with Music Theatre International out of New York City.
North Habersham Middle School’s production of Annie runs Friday March 27th and Saturday March 28th in the school gym at 7:30PM each evening. Doors will open at 7:00PM.
Tickets, available in the school lobby before each performance, are $5.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Students with children under school age admitted at no cost. Seats are offered on a first come first served basis and there will be special “front row” floor seating available for children to give them a close up experience with the performers on stage.
