North Georgia man charged with multiple counts of child sexual exploitation

A cyber tip led to the recent arrest of a 21-year-old North Georgia man. The GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit arrested and charged Dawson Denmark of Towns County with nine counts of sexual exploitation of children.

Investigators began looking into Denmark’s online activity after receiving information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding his possible online possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

“This investigation led to a search warrant of Denmark’s home and his subsequent arrest,” says GBI Public Affairs Director Nelly Miles.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office, Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, and FBI assisted the GBI CEACC Unit with its investigation.

Denmark was taken to the Towns County Jail following his arrest.

Miles says this investigation is part of the GBI’s ongoing effort to identify those involved in the trade of child sexual abuse material.

Anyone with information about other cases of child exploitation is asked to contact the GBI Exploitation Unit at 404-270-8870 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline at CyberTipline.org.
