North Georgia Community Foundation staff and stakeholders celebrate a record-breaking scholarship year.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) has awarded a record-breaking $743,649 in scholarships to 306 students pursuing higher education. According to NGCF President and CEO Michelle Prater, this marks the largest disbursement of scholarships in the Foundation’s history.

NGCF awarded the scholarships to students across North Georgia who enrolled in college or technical school this fall. Foundation staff, fundholders, and scholarship reviewers recently celebrated the milestone.

“We are immensely grateful for all of their passion and dedication that have been instrumental in reaching this remarkable milestone,” says Prater. “This commitment to the community and belief in the power of education is what fuels our mission and enables us to support an increasing number of students each year.”

Connie and Sammy Tucker, who established the Jody Tucker Memorial Scholarship in honor of their son, praised NGCF’s scholarship administration. “Over the years, we’ve witnessed the Foundation’s incredible dedication to administering scholarships,” they said. “We are so impressed by their commitment and are proud to support students as they pursue their educational dreams. It’s more than a scholarship; it’s a way to honor Jody’s legacy and invest in the potential of our youth.”

Each scholarship fund represents a unique tribute and supports the individual goals of the recipients. NGCF takes pride in its role in ensuring that each scholarship finds its way to a deserving student, Prater says.

The next NGCF scholarship cycle opens on January 15, 2025. Individuals interested in establishing a new scholarship fund can find more information at www.ngcf.org/scholarships.
