State investigators say at this point in their investigation no foul play is suspected in last week’s death of a Mt. Airy woman.
38-year old Christina Dowdy was pronounced dead on the night of Thursday, April 20, at a house on McConnell Place. Officials were originally dispatched to the scene on a medical call, according to the coroner’s office.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement that night saying officers were on the scene of a “suspicious death.” Mt. Airy Police asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to help investigate.
“The autopsy exam is complete and the results are pending further forensic testing,” says GBI Director of Public Affairs Nelly Miles. “At this point in the investigation, no foul play is suspected.”
Dowdy was a daycare teacher, according to her obituary. She leaves behind a daughter and two sons.
A memorial service for Dowdy will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church.
